Materials for Crochet Chick

• Yellow yarn (Plush yarn)
• White cotton yarn for eyes
• Orange cotton yarn for other accessories
• Hook – 6.0mm, 2.5mm and 2.0 mm
• Darning needle
• Fiberfill

Special Terms:

Sc2tog-slip stitch 2 together or popularly known as Dec or decrease

• Yarn over and pull through. Repeat the process, Insert the hook in the next st, yarn over and pull through again.  There should be 3 loops on the hook now. Finally, yarn over and pull a loop through all 3 loops on the hook to finish the stitch.

• When making an increase, you will just  make 2 sc in each or next stitch

How to crochet a chick

Body of crochet chick

(Use yellow plush yarn, 6.0mm hook)

Part 1: ( make 2 wings)

• Start with a magic ring.
• R1-R4: 4 sc in each round, cut and leave a tail.

Part 2: (main part of body)

• R1: start with 6 sc in magic ring. 1 ss, 1 ch [6]
• R2: （2 sc in each st)*6 times, 1 ss, 1 ch [12]
• R3: ( 1 sc, 2 sc in each st ) * 6 times, 1 ss, 1 ch [18]
• R4: ( 2 sc, 2 sc in each st ) * 6 times, 1 ss, 1 ch [24]
• R5-R8: 24 sc, 1 ss, 1 ch [24]
• R9: ( 2 sc, sc2tog, 2 sc ) * 4 times, 1 ss, 1 ch [20]
• R10: ( 1 sc, sc2tog, 1 sc ) * 5 times, 1 ss, 1 ch [15 ]
• R11: 15 sc , 1 ss, 1 ch [15]
• R12: (sc2tog) * 6 times, sc3tog [7]
• *Fill it with stuffing/fiberfill, weave the ends with a darning needle.

Make 2 feet of crochet chick

• R2: (in same st: 1 ch, 1 dc, 1 ch. 1 ss in next st ) * 3 times. 1 ss, 3 ch, from 2nd st of hook, 2 sc, 1 ss. cut and weave the ends.

Mouth of crochet chick

• Step 1: 3 ch, from 2nd st of hook, 2 sc, 4 ch, from 2nd st of hook, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 sc. cut and weave the ends.

Assemble crochet chick

In order for you to assemble amigurumi chick plushie you must have these parts:

• Body
• 2 wings
• 2 Feet
• 2 Eyes
• Mouth
• Small and Big Cockscomb
• 2 safety eyes
• Hot Melt Glue

Putting it all together!

• 1. Using your darning needle, sew the wings between R5 and R6 of the body. You can double secure it with hot melt glue.

• 2. Attach the white eyes on the R5 and put it in the middle part. You can add small amount of fiberfill inside the eyes or scrap yarns to make it bulky.

• 3. Follow it with putting the mouth below the eyes.

• 4. Stitch the feet on between the R10 and R11 and with 3 stitch apart from each other.

• 5. Attach the small cockscomb on the top of your work and follow it with big cockscomb

• 6. Lastly, don’t forget to put the safety eyes. Use a plastic glue or hot melt adhesive if you don’t have one. Don’t put too much of it.
• 7. This is optional but you can put some blush on the cheeks to look more adorable.
