Flower Stamen (make 2):

• Step 1: Start with a magic ring.

  Step 2: Work 6 sc into the magic ring. 1 ss, 1 ch. Pull the ring tight.

  Step 3: (2 sc in same stitch) * 6 times. 1 ss, 1 ch

  Step 4: ( 1 sc, 2 sc in next st ) * 6 times, 1 ss, 1 ch

  Step 5: Fasten off and leave a long tail for assembly. continue to finish another flower stamen with green yarn.
• Note: Attach the two stamens by stitching them together while working on the Sunflower petal.

Sunflower Petal (make 9):

• Step 1: use yellow yarn start with a slip knot.

  Step 2: In the same stitch, work (ch 1, hdc, dc, ch 2).

  Step 3: In the next stitch, work (dc, hdc, ch 1)

  Step 4: Slip stitch into the next stitch to complete a petal.

  Step 5: Repeat the above steps 8 times to create a total of 9 petals.

  Step 6: Fasten off and weave in the ends.
• Note: Before you fasten off the flower, put enough fiberfill in the Sunflower to make it more realistic.

Leaf (make 2):

• Step 1: Start with a foundation chain of 7 ch.

  Step 2: In the second stitch from the hook, work 1 ss, 1 sc, 2 hdc, 1 sc, and 1 ss.

  Step 3: Ch 2 and turn the leaf to work on the opposite side.

  Step 4: work 1 ss, 1 sc, 2 hdc, 1 sc, and 1 ss.

  Step 5: Slip stitch into the next stitch, cut the yarn, and leave a tail for assembly.
• Note: Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round.

Assembly of the two leaves:

• Stitch the two leaves together when you are making a chain for the bookmark rope.

Bookmark Rope:

• Step 1: Start with a chain, adjusting the length according to your book’s size.

  Step 2: Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Assembly of the Sunflower and the Bookmark rope.

• Attach the bookmark rope to the top of the sunflower, tying it securely.

Star Bookmark

Star:

• Round 1

  Step 1: Create a magic ring.

  Step 2: Chain 3 (counts as 1 dc), work 14 dc into the magic ring.

  Step 3: Slip stitch into the first chain to join.
• Round 2

  Step 1: Chain 6.

  Step 2: In the second chain from the hook, work 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, and 1 tr.

  Step 3: Slip stitch into the third dc stitch from Round 1.

  Step 4: Repeat the sequence of (1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 tr, slip stitch) 5 more times.

  Step 5: Don't cut the tail, continue to make a Rope

Small Heart:

• Step 1: Create a magic ring.

  Step 2: Chain 3.

  Step 3: Work 3 tr, 3 dc, 1 ch, 3 dc, 3 tr, 3 ch.

  Step 4: Slip stitch into the magic ring.

  Step 5: Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Bookmark Rope:

• Create a chain stitch until you reach the desired length for your bookmark.
• Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Assembly:

• For the star or heart bookmark, simply attach it to one end of the bookmark rope by threading the rope through the center of the shape. Tie a knot or secure it using a yarn needle.
