  • Yarn – yarn of three colors. white, yellow and green. You can substitute cotton yarn with any type of yarn.
  • Hook – 2/2.5 mm
  • Flower Rod – 16 inches long x 0.08 inches diameter (40cm x 2mm)
  • Iron wire – 0.4mm or 0.5mm diameter
  • Stitch marker
  • Darning needle
  • Pair of scissors
  • Polyfill
  • Hot melt adhesive

Flower Petal: (Make 6)

  • Let’s start with foundation chain: 25 ch.
  • R1: 2 sc into the 2nd sts from hook, 2 hdc, dc 14, hdc 3, sc 2, 3 sc in last stitch, do not turn, (working on the other side of ch), sc 2, hdc 3, dc14, hdc 2, 2 sc, ss.
  • R2: ch1, add iron wire, 2 sc in next st, sc 2, 2 hdc, dc, dc 2 in next st, dc 4, dc 2 in next st, dc 5, hdc 3, sc 4; (1 sc, 2 ch picot stitch, 1 sc); (working on the other side of ch), sc 4, hdc 3, dc 5, dc 2 in next st, dc 4, dc 2 in next st, dc, 2 hdc, 2 sc, sc 2 in next st, ss, cut and leave tail for wrapping.

  • R1: ch3, work 5 dc in magic ring. close the loop tightly, ss top of ch3
  • R2: ch3, (dc, dc2 in next st )* 2 times, dc2 in next st, ss
  • R3: ch3, (fpdc, dc2 in next st )* 4 times, ss
  • R4: ch3, (fpdc,dc, dc2 in next st ) * 4 times, ss
  • R5: ch3, (fpdc, dc2, dc2 in next st) * 4 times, ss

  • R2: ch1, sc30, 2 ch picot st, sc29, ss, cut and leave tail for wrapping.

Stamen: (Make 6)

  1. Take 6 inches (15cm) of iron wire, starting at 2in (5cm), and wrap the yellow yarn for 1in (2.5cm),
  2. then fold the wire in half, making sure the ends of the yellow are aligned.
  3. Using the green yarn, wrap the two wires together for 1 in (2.5cm), and cut and tie a knot.

Step 1: Cut the rod in the middle and set aside the other half. To create the stem for the bud, use the tail yarn of the stamen, and wrap the yarn around the rod. Cut the tail, and finish with hot melt adhesive at the end.

Step 2: Using the rod you set aside, wrap the flower stamens around with green yarn. Do not cut the yarn.

Step 3: Continue wrapping the flower petals one at a time onto the stem, around the stamens. Once you wrap all petals, continue wrapping the stem until all tail ends of the flower petals are covered.

Step 4: Join the leaf and wrap around the stem until the tail end is covered. Then join the flower bud, wrap around the stem, cut the tail, and finish using hot melt adhesive at the end of the stem.
