What Materials Will You Need?

All yarn I use is cotton yarn as it is lightweight, cheaper, and rich in color variations.

  • Yarn– Black Yarn, Cream Yarn, Christmas Green (Shades may vary), Grapefruit Red (You can customize this colors. Can be purple, red, white, or magenta)
  • Hook– 2.5 mm
  • Flower rod – 16” long x 0.08” diameter (40cm x 2mm) *if it’s not available in your place, you can use bamboo skewers but expect that it will not bend like flower rod
  • Iron wire – 0.02” diameter (0.4mm)
  • Hot Melt Glue
  • Scissors
  • Stitch marker
  • Darning needle

Petals(make 10)

  • Start with the foundation chain: 11 ch
  • R1: start in the 2nd chain from hook, work 3 sc, 3 hdc, 3 dc, in the next st insert 10 dc, turn your work, 3 dc, 3 hdc, 3 sc, 1 ss, 1 ch. [28]
  • R2: insert the wire, 6 sc, 6 dc, 3 dc in the next st, 2 dc, 3 dc in the next st, 6 dc, 6 sc, 1 ss.[32]
  • R3: 10 sc, 2 hdc in the next st, 2 dc in the next st, 2 hdc in the next st, 1 hdc, 2 hdc in the next st, 2 dc in next st, 2 dc in the next st, 2 hdc in the next st, 1 hdc, 2 hdc in next st, 2 dc in next st, 2 hdc in the next st, 10 sc, 1 ss. [42]

Flower core(black)

  • R1: start with 8 sc in the magic ring, 1 ss.
  • R2-3: work 3 ch, ( 2 unfinished hdc, pull through all loops ) * 8 times, , 1 ss, 1 ch. [8]

*it is also called a bobble stitch
*BO (Bobble Stitch) Yarn over, insert hook in indicated stitch or space, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over pull through 2 loops

  • R4: 8 sc, 1 ss, 1 ch. [8]

Black stamens(make 2)

  • Step 1: Start with the foundation chain: 22 ch
  • Step 2: start in the 3rd chain from hook, work 20 dc
  • Step 3: turn, work 20 sc ( Every time you complete 1 sc, pull out the loop to stretch it to about 2cm, then take out the crochet hook, and go to work on the next stitch with the same operation)

  • Step 4: cut the loops from the middle.

Leaf( make 6 )

  • Start with the foundation chain: 15 ch
  • Add wire, start in 2nd chain from hook, work 7 sc, 2 hdc, 1 dc, in the same st( 1 dc, 3 ch, 1 ss), 3 sc, 1 ch. turn your work, 3 sc, in the same st( 1 ss, 3 ch, 1 dc ), 1 dc, 2 hdc, 7 sc, 1 ss.

Assemble

In order for you to assemble Anemone flower, you must have these parts:

  • 10 petals
  • 1 black flower core
  • 2 blacks stamens
  • 6 green leaves
  • 2 Flower rod
  • Cream yarn for cream stamen

Putting it all together

  • Step 1: Using pliers, fold at least 2cm of the 2 flower rod.

  • Step 2:Insert the flower core. To make sure that it will not be removed, use hot melt glue.

  • Step 3: Wrap a black stamen on the flower core. Use hot melt glue so it will stick on the core.

  • Step 4: Repeat the same process for the 2nd black stamen.
  • Step 5: 1st Layer of petals: Fold the wire of your petals and attach it below of the core. Attach the petals with glue sticks to make sure it will not fall.

  • Step 6: 2nd layer of petals: Attach the petals in between of the 1st layer petals.

  • Step 7: Using green yarn, hide the visible wire parts and the flower rod to serve as the stem of the flower.

  • Step 8: In the middle part of the rod, attach the leaves and tie it up to secure it.

  • Step 9: Continue on wrapping the whole stem using green yarn and use hot melt glue for the end part of it.
  • Step 10: For the cream stamen, use a darning needle to insert the edge of the flower core Wrap the yarn 3 times, pull through to form a cluster and sew a round around the flower core in the same operation.
